i'm in a band.
we're called "Robot Lounge"
it's a weird name, but i think it works...we've got a new cd coming out. soon, very soon. It's finished...mastered to it's finest...we're just working on the last details of it's release. i think both of you...the 2 people who read this blog, my friend steve and my mom...will love the cd.
anyways, I'm super duper excited for this cd. it's rewarding to work so hard on something and be proud of it. especially something as difficult as the artistic expression of music. I'll keep both of you updated on when it will be released. the songs we've played for a select few have proved to be a hit. people like the music...or they're just feeding us bullshit. i hope it's not the latter... if you care to take a listen after reading this completely random blog post, go here... www.robotlounge.net
cheers!
I recently finished working on a project for one of the greatest organizations I've ever
had the opportunity to work with. The Nature Conservancy does sooooooo
much to preserve the world in which we live.
They held a lecture series this past fall to celebate they're 50th Anniversary.
They had speakers of scientific, academic, and business backgrounds speaking about
the protection of lands and waters around the world.
After listening to hours of lectures and tweeking them to sound "just right"...they're finished!
Have yourself a little listen...

The piece I worked so hard on before Christmas finally made it onto Chicago Public Radio.
The one place I'd hoped it would end up...
It was a little like the scene in "That Thing You Do" when the guys hear their song on the radio for the first time.
Exciting, but impossible to stop listening.
My most sincere thanks go out to my Aunt & Uncle for letting me invade their lives for a couple months.
Listen to the final piece that aired on Chicago Public Radio...

P.S. - when I played the piece for my family, the 2 seconds from when the piece ended to when they began crying was the hardest 2 seconds I've ever had to swallow in my entire life.
It's amazing what a great story will do...
He hasn't shaved in over 6 years. He's got his own Santa barber. He belongs to a "Real Bearded Santa Club".
His father was Santa for over 30 years...now it's his turn.
Enjoy!
Happy Holidays!
What a marvelous time of year!
It's not even Thanksgiving, yet I'm readying myself for the Holiday season.
I've begun work on a few new projects...the most exciting of which involves my uncle, Santa.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down and record over 2 hours of GREAT conversation with the jolly old elf himself.
The brief santa stories will be coming in a short while...to be followed up with a great piece on my uncle.
The timing couldn't be more perfect...He's been selected as this year's Santa for Chicago's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Feliz Navidad!
So this is the dawn of a new day.
the reBirth of my creativity. hopefully.
I've added a whole bunch of cool links to websites you all must read.
(They are under the "my links" section to the left)
Also, I've added a ridiculous video that I took of myself at summer camp.
I had reached my wits end...while driving a minivan...listening to Pachelbel Canon in D.
here it is...
I know...I've not written anything in a couple of months.
I am a horrible person.
BUT...what I have been doing has been even more worth-while than blogging. (if that's even possible) I have spent the last two months building, running, and operating a radio station at a summer camp...not to mention teaching 14 kids every hour. The food was kosher. The kids were ALWAYS hyped up on high-fructose Red and Blue juice. My days ran from 9:00am to 1:30am sometimes...but it was worth every second.
I met some of the most incredible people from every corner of the globe. The best part was we were all there for the exact same reason. We all had a life and jobs prior to signing our lives away...but it doesn't matter.
The best analogy I can give is if your life is a jar of bird seed, every different piece of seed represents a different memory or a different thought that's been placed into it's position in the jar.
Now shake the crap out of the jar and set it back on the table.
The table is the "real world"...the shaking is summer camp. As far as my recordings go...umm, well they took a backseat to the daily activities. Also, so did my connection with the real world. I gained a better understanding of parts of the world I knew little about. I gained many new friendships...and I loved every single second of it.
I would never do it again...BUT...
So here's the start...
I've been moving, so the project has taken a backseat to the mayhem of realizing I have too much stuff.
These are a few very short clips pulled from longer interviews. They are all in response to the question...
"Do you believe in Santa Claus?"
These are all adults whom I questioned. I chose not to ask this question to the kids for fear of that one loudmouth to start explaining that Santa is a sham, a hoax, an elaborate story made up by their parents.
on even Santa needs a nap...
